MODULAR FURNITURE HISTORY

CUBEX
Belgian architect De Koninck designed the world's first modular furniture concept in 1932. A series of standard functional elements could be combined to fit in any size kitchen.
TOMADO
A hugely sucessful Dutch metal wall shelving system. You could choose between red, yellow, grey, blue and black standard shelves, plus quite some intricate variations. A functional, affordable and exciting household statement, reflecting the joyous new era of consumer prosperity and technological progress. You screwed it on your wall, and created an instant Mondriaan in your home. So extremely pure and contemporary fashionable, that when it eventually changed from Wired to Tired, the Tomado company never again mentioned their most successful child, now considered totally old-fashioned and passé!
GEORGE NELSON STORAGE WALL
George Nelson designed this fully adjustable alumium pole system allowing for storage flexability.
